The heart of the Old City of Jerusalem for Christians is the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre, known by the locals as the “Church of the Resurrection”: inside, there is the Calvary, the place of the crucifixion and death of Jesus, and the Tomb of Jesus, from which the Son of God arose on the third day. The two Holy Places are related and inseparable, as is the Paschal mystery of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ which took place there and which takes place continuously. For eight hundred years, the Franciscan friars of the Order of Friars Minor have been the guardians of the Holy Sepulchre, on behalf of the Catholic Church, and share the ownership of the Basilica with the Greek Orthodox Church and the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Researched by Francesco Josepa Dougan; February 2020 Accounts such as these, and woodcuts of the scene, were very popular throughout Europe. The great scandals of Mary’s life were forgotten and she was mourned as a Catholic martyr. The truth of her demise was not so simple. Elizabeth did execute Mary over the 19-year course of her imprisonment. Eventually, however, the Catholic threat was deemed too great and Elizabeth signed the warrant for execution. These type of comments by prominent historians I.E. Henry Meikle; ' Men like the Bloody Mackenzie were bad Christians, but good Protestants.' This from a respected I presume, Protestant historian and I being a simple soul, seem to get the drift with that statement that it is acceptable and correct for Protestants to live above the Christian path.
