The great scandals of Mary’s life were forgotten and she was mourned as a Catholic martyr. The truth of her demise was not so simple. These type of comments by prominent historians I.E. Henry Meikle; ' Men like the Bloody Mackenzie were bad Christians, but good Protestants.' This from a respected I presume, Protestant historian and I being a simple soul, seem to get the drift with that statement that it is acceptable and correct for Protestants to live above the Christian path.
