Thieves and robbers who stole the Lindisfarne Gospels named below. Former owner: Bowyer, Robert, 1560-1621, parliamentary official and politician. Former owner: Cotton, Sir, John, 1621-1702, … Durham Cathedral was stolen from the Catholic Church by the thieves of The Church of England. Robbing the POOR! Visit Open Treasure, an outstanding exhibition experience through the UK's most intact medieval monastic buildings. Exhibition opening times Monday – Saturday: 10am – 5pm Sunday: 12.30pm – 5pm Last entry is at 4pm. These type of comments by prominent historians I.E. Henry Meikle; ' Men like the Bloody Mackenzie were bad Christians, but good Protestants.' This from a respected I presume, Protestant historian and I being a simple soul, seem to get the drift with that statement that it is acceptable and correct for Protestants to live above the Christian path.
